HUMANITY, At a Glance…

It is said that, Humanity travels not from error to truth, but from truth to truth...
Is it so???

I am seriously searching the truth behind Humanity since that day…
Yeah, it was 15th August, 2012, our 66th Independence Day. That single incident broke all my pride & left me with tearful eyes of shameless emotions of inhumanity. I could do nothing but feel sorry for that poor chap, the fruit vendor, who was standing on the road side with his cart, full of fresh guavas to sell for earning his living for that particular day…

On our way back home after exploring & enjoying a terrific drive on the new Yamuna Express Way, when we reached the NOIDA- Greater NOIDA Express Way, despite the heat & humidity, a cart full of fresh green guavas on the road side delighted us & made us to stop there. It was a great attraction for most of the passer-bys to stop there to buy guavas. A young boy of around 17-18 years was the vendor. When I went to him, there was another gentle man with his daughter buying from him, I also asked him to weigh some for me. While he was weighing those on the scale, a police man came to him & took his scale threatening him not to allow him to stand & sell there. Then immediately the poor boy apologized & started moving away in a hurry leaving that place. I & the other gentle man requested the policeman to return him his scale & let him go. Then I started moving fast towards our car & when I was about to get in, I heard a strong shout saying, ‘’ Jaa, Ab Bech, Keise Amrud Bechtaa Hai…” I turned back & got shocked. What I saw? The policeman had chased the poor fellow, caught him & turned over his guava cart. All the guavas were rolling here & there on the road. I could not find any valid point for this act, where the poor vendor obeyed the order & readily left the place, but still he had to pay for it. Then I saw him picking up his empty cart, started pushing it & leaving the place with despair. I could clearly visualise his sorrow & feel his pain. By that time the policeman did his real job by ordering his assistant to collect all the guavas & keep those in his jeep. It was very very disturbing for me. I could not take that any more & quickly left that place.

It was not for the first time, I witnessed such incident, but my calculation says this time the vendor was innocent. Because there were some other sellers too, whom the police did not disturb. Why only this boy had been targeted? It created doubts in mind. He might be a new vendor, who was unaware of the illegal norms of paying percentage to the police. Alas! Such a pity for a country man as well as for the country!

I don’t know exactly, but what ever might be the reason, it was clearly showing the picture of corruption. I don’t want to fall into controversies being judgmental, rather trying to address this issue just for the sake of Humanity feeling very sorry for the fruit vendor.
Is this the right way to execute law in our democratic India, where the police has the right to take such barbaric action against public, harass them by taking away their living & filling it’s own pocket?

I am trying a lot to draw a conclusion, but can not & also trying to forget the incident, but it’s too not possible on my part. My sensitivity doesn't allow me to do so. Because the whole episode was very confusing & disturbing. Since that day, I am desperately trying to search for the truth holding some queries in mind-
Is it called truth of living?
Why do people misuse power?
Is it true independence?
Are we true human beings?
Where is our compassion?
Where is Humanity?
Could we rise up some day to establish a better world here???

Being an optimist, it’s my trial of seeing the other perspective, which says, hope is still there. Because to my understanding, Humanity is all about the heart of compassion & the life of concern towards any living being. As human beings, we are the privileged possessors of God’s invaluable gift of Consciousness. Need of the hour is only to introspect ourselves, recognise our consciousness within & understand the right purpose of our existence on this Earth & act accordingly.
It will definitely lead us to live life perfectly harmonious, good & beautiful, happy & fully conscious.
